The collection features narrow grey stripes on a natural sisal base, and comes in three different sizes. The baskets can be used for a variety of purposes, such as fruit baskets, desk tidies, large planters, and laundry baskets. The skilled craftswomen in the cooperative work hard to produce the repeat patterns, meeting weekly with their Chairlady to arrange work, deliver completed orders, and pick up their wages. Sisal grass is purchased ready-rolled when Basket Room places their orders with the cooperative, and is hand-dyed in large vats using household soot collected and crushed before being added to boiling water.

All baskets sourced by Basket Room are directly from cooperatives in Africa, empowering women to earn a flexible income in the dry seasons when subsistence farming may not be enough to support their families.
