One basket. Many connections.
Dorcas Ndinda leads a Kenyan weaving cooperative, where weavers meet regularly to receive orders and weave together.
A woven basket gives everyday objects a place,
and brings colour and texture to the corners you see every day.
A PLACE FOR THE EVERYDAY.Storage can be part of the way you decorate.
Start with its place, then choose a piece that fits your daily life.
Think about its place and what it will hold.
Then explore colour and shape.

Think about what you use each day, then check the shelf width, depth and height. Echo the wall, the wood or a favourite object through colour.
Check that the opening is easy to reach. Include the basket’s widest point and any handles in your measurements.

Keep storage close to the things you use. Think about folded textiles, magazines or everyday objects, then choose the shape to suit.
Leave room to walk past, open doors and lift the basket out.

Start with a small basket and a little woven texture. Work with your own tableware and colours to make everyday meals feel considered.
Check each product’s intended use, material and cleaning instructions before choosing for the table.

For other materials, follow the individual product and brand guidance.
Avoid prolonged damp. Keep dyed fibres out of strong direct sunlight to help preserve their colour.
Keep the plant in a smaller inner pot on a saucer, so soil and water do not touch the woven fibres directly.
