RUMBÁ BOR / EVERYDAY BEAUTY, RECONSIDERED
FROM THAILAND / A RELATIONAL ART STUDIO

To look again
is to design.

Overlooked objects.
Pieces worth keeping in everyday life.

Rumbá Bor is a relational art studio based in Thailand. Starting with everyday aesthetics, the studio reuses overlooked materials to bring small moments of beauty into view.

THE MOMENT IT BEGAN / LATE 2023

A factory visit. A familiar old stool.

Drawn to the Chinese-inspired motifs and delicate lines of an old plastic stool, the team decided to reuse a mould discontinued in the early 2000s. Keeping a form worth preserving, they reconsidered an everyday object through recycled materials and a different way of making.

03 / DESIGNED WITH MEMORY. MADE BY HAND.

THE DESIGN STARTING POINT

Design begins with what is worth keeping.

The old stool’s Chinese-inspired motifs and lines made the team stop and look again. Reusing a discontinued mould keeps that familiar beauty, while materials and making give it a new expression.

01 / REUSE THE MOULD

A mould, still useful.

A discontinued mould and its original motifs become the starting point for a new design.

02 / REUSE THE MATERIAL

Materials, reshaped.

Recycled polypropylene and hand-pouring bring new colour and texture.

03 / RECOMPOSE THE PARTS

Parts, recomposed.

Look Choop found new colour possibilities in leftover seats and legs whose colours did not match.

WHY THE MAKING MATTERS

Moulds, materials and parts can all be reconsidered.
The value of craft is turning that idea into something you can use every day.
