Sisters Basak Onay and Oyku Thurston founded BORNN in 2015. Having lived in Tokyo, Barcelona and Los Angeles, they returned to the enamel craft of their hometown, Istanbul, with a fresh perspective.
Working with skilled local artisans, they bring traditional techniques together with modern colour and everyday table life. Familiar shapes take on a new expression.

THE FOUNDATION
Everyday begins with a shape.
Steel bodies are machine or hand formed into plates, bowls and cups. Enamelware has a steel core and a glass glaze, rather than a ceramic body.
Each New Marble piece is made individually by hand, with its own pattern. Position and conditions in the kiln can also affect colour intensity.
